About this deal

She has a first-class honours degree in English literature and an MA in Shakespeare Studies from Kings College London.

Your words, like your reviews, bring books to life and give them a voice before the front cover is even turned. The setting is of course a train, however the descriptions of the places they go, people they see and where they are are always written so brilliantly, you barely need the wonderful illustrations this book comes with, however this book is enriched and brought to life by the artwork throughout. A wonderful book in a great series which would excite the imaginations of many a young reader (and plenty of older ones too!You guys were so fab and Dawn was such a lovely presence in the schools - I will absolutely be in touch next time I'm in your neck of the woods. However these novels are the first books, other than the Frostheart and The Familiars series, that he has been absolutely obsessed with and looking forward to reading them whenever he has the time. Hal's talent for observation and art again helps them to solve the mystery of where and what the item is that the assassins are after. But first he has to take a plane to Sweden as uncle Nat is there to go to a special dinner with a friend, Morti, who is receiving a Nobel prize and she's asked Nat to go to the ceremony with her.

They also give a bit of history on the train, railway line, and the country in which the story is set. I was lucky enough to see a story that Sam Sedgman put up saying that the book was on Netgalley and even luckier to be accepted by Macmillan publishing to read early so I can review! She now lives and works in UK as a freelance Illustrator and Creative Designer, accompanied by her beloved pets. I enjoy the relationship between Hal and his Uncle and this time Hal's mum is in the story which adds another dimension to the family relationships. Before writing stories for children, he worked as a playwright, journalist, and digital producer, and founded a company making murder mystery treasure hunts for adventurous Londoners. Once again, the story is brought to life by the beautiful illustrations by Elisa Paganelli, and I love looking for little hints and tips in her artwork, it really is stunning. The sixth and I think final installment of the Adventures on Trains series sees Hal and his uncle Nat on a train to the Arctic circle, the problem being there is also an assassin aboard!

Hal and Uncle Nat travel to Sweden, boarding the overnight train to Narvik, the northernmost station in Europe, to see the Northern Lights just before Christmas. There are currently six books in the series but I am sure there will be more - these are brilliant stories for kids who love travel, action, a mystery to solve and an all-round brilliant adventure! To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. The wintry, Christmas-time atmosphere, the constant threat of avalanche, and amazing locations like Kungsträdgården Station and the Ice Hotel make this much more than a suspenseful, fast-paced adventure. After completing artistic studies she made a career in advertising and has been the founder and owner of a small award winning design and trade business.
