About this deal

However, all things considered, this is still a lovely cloth-bound, deckle edged, book in a sturdy slipcase and a joy to behold, and you're not going to get anything closer. Some of them were just like the peasants at home or those I saw coming through France and Germany, with short jackets and round hats and home-made trousers; but others were very picturesque. Here at Hoxton Street Monster Supplies, there are many comings and goings, moanings and groanings, things that go bump in the night, and lots of ghastly goings on.

This classic tale of horror is told through the diaries, letters and journals of the protagonists: the young solicitor Jonathan Harker, his fiancee, her friend Lucy Westenra and Dr Seward, the superintendent of a large lunatic asylum near Purfleet in Essex. The impression I had was that we were leaving the West and entering the East; the most western of splendid bridges over the Danube,2 which is here of noble width and depth, took us among the traditions of Turkish rule. I was not able to light on any map or work giving the exact locality of the Castle Dracula, as there are no maps of this country as yet to compare with our own Ordnance Survey maps;7 but I found that Bistritz, the post town named by Count Dracula, is a fairly well-known place. They wore high boots, with their trousers tucked into them, and had long black hair and heavy black moustaches. Part of Penguin's beautiful hardback Clothbound Classics series, designed by the award-winning Coralie Bickford-Smith, this delectable and collectible edition is bound in high-quality colourful, tactile cloth with foil stamped into the design. But the covers on these editions, while very nice to look at are VERY sensitive to water and the paint comes off way too easily, even if you just have slightly sweaty hands you'll come away from a reading session with bits of paint on your hands. m., on 1st May, arriving at Vienna early next morning; should have arrived at 6:46, but train was an hour late. This should be more than enough to distinguish it from the original, never mind altering the main title page as well.

I can't even say that little is left behind: starting from the origins of the Stoker family, passing through his education in college and his time as a civil servant and then as acting manager at the Lyceum theater, touching his most intimate relationships and the inspirations for his books, until beyond his mortal life, I can't see a topic that Neil R. He wrote many books, including The Lair of the White Worm (1911), but Dracula (1897) remains his most celebrated. When that evil escapes to England, the entire nation is suddenly under threat and only an aged vampire hunter, Professor Abraham Van Helsing, can put a stop to the bloodshed. Beautiful presentation, hard backed, gold foil page edges, cloth bookmark stitched into the spine, lovely dust-cover, and a micro size that can fit in any pocket or bag.

This luxury publication is produced in full colour, with stills, lobby cards and posters illustrating in-depth articles and biographies that throw new light on this classic horror movie. Which would explain why the title and author lettering doesn't touch the edges of the spine as the on the 1st edition's. The attempt at regional accents in some of the dialogue is distracting as is Van Helsing's habit of missing ’s’ off verbs. It introduced the character of Count Dracula and established many conventions of subsequent vampire fantasy.

At the very beginning of the seventeenth century it underwent a siege of three weeks and lost 13,000 people, the casualties of war proper being assisted by famine and disease. He is begged by locals not to go there, because on the eve of St George's Day, when the clock strikes midnight, all the evil things in the world will come full sway. As far as the plot is concerned, I’m assuming almost everyone is familiar with it by now, given how Dracula is such a huge cultural phenomenon. I recently had the pleasure of diving into Bram Stoker's "Dracula," and it's safe to say that I was utterly captivated from start to finish.

Count Dracula had directed me to go to the Golden Krone Hotel, which I found, to my great delight, to be thoroughly old-fashioned, for of course I wanted to see all I could of the ways of the country. This is not intended to be a full statement of all your rights under the Distance Selling Regulations. Christopher Lee is one of the world's most iconic horror and fantasy actors - coming to prominence with the 1957 film `The Curse of Frankenstein' in which he played Frankenstein's monster. Sometimes we saw little towns or castles on the top of steep hills such as we see in old missals; sometimes we ran by rivers and streams which seemed from the wide stony margin on each side of them to be subject to great floods. The novel's themes of fear, desire, and the battle between good and evil are explored in a way that continues to resonate with readers today. Soon afterwards, various bizarre incidents unfold in England: an apparently unmanned ship is wrecked off the coast of Whitby; a young woman discovers strange puncture marks on her neck; and the inmate of a lunatic asylum raves about the 'Master' and his imminent arrival.
