About this deal

The internal layout keeps the hot components separate and in proximity of free-flow air so the case will always run cool. For the Ridge, Fractal appears to have switched to a different supplier for this 90-degree power cable. Even though I don't have the possibility to test power supplies for ripple and voltage regulation, I put a complete ATX system on it to get at least an impression of the noise.

Owners of a Vega or GTX/RTX -80 card should be aware of the problem with the vertical setup if no blower cooler is used. They made the case easier to build into by completely discarding the difficult to understand clamshell design, and removed the heavy use of plastic by switching to more premium materials like steel, aluminum, and even cloth. Like many HTPC or media center style cases, the Fractal Design Node 202 has fairly simple exterior design, but it’s thinner than most.Definitely think I'll need to remove the 120mm fans below the GPU, curious if anyone else has done similar with 2. The motherboard mounts atop this gaping hole should you ever need to swap the heatsink or and another m. this seems a good design, but the older silverstone milo ml08 has a bit more usability, even if a bit less cooling capacity. I'm not entirely opposed to a new case, but I am feeling challenged about putting it into my Node 202 because I can and I like the style of it. Installed from the inside of the chassis, the case and the stand include provisions for the screws that are threaded into the stand.

Fractal Design offers its new Mini-ITX Node 202 either as a bare case or paired with its Integra SFX 450W PSU. I want to give this a 5 star review, but it just doesn’t tick too many boxes in terms of building ergonomics (particularly SATA drives and motherboard standoffs), this case is in dire need of a refresh.Despite its size, you can install some powerful hardware inside and have yourself a lean, mean Steam Machine. Good case, almost all parts are made of metal, there is enough room for cables if you use a SFX modular psu. The case also includes a slot for a Kensington lock so you ensure that nobody walks away with your case under their arm. When you consider how few SFX PSUs there are on the market it probably makes sense to go for the combo package, if only to save yourself hassle. There is also the fact that the tested SilverStone chassis had no dust filter whereas the Fractal one does, but going by the CPU results this shouldn't make this big a difference.

It’s such a cumbersome cable to make look nice and it’s always way too long but that’s no fault of Fractal Design. It comes in two variants - with or without the Fractal Design 450W 80Plus Bronze SFX PSU pre-installed. drive mounts, a slimline optical drive mount (arguably still relevant in the living room) and even a 3.Results are heavily subjective and your mileage will vary depending on how many cores you’re planning to stuff into this chassis. While the two components are thermally separate for the most part, a graphics cards will still result in an appreciable increase of warm air in the case and around the other components.

Perhaps the results could have been better with slim fans (akasa 15mm, gelid 120mm slim or scythe 120mm slim) as there was almost no space between the fans and GPU, but I highly doubt it. Even so, during the most taxing points of the benchmark, the GPU didn’t fare much better, still requiring 100% fan speed. Fractal's included PSU is not modular, so you have to struggle with a mass of extra cables in a cramped case, and the fan isn't the quietest thing (although I remedied this by moving the computer to the other side of my desk so the fan faces away from me).Second is the GPU cooling, and you shouldn't overlook this too quickly, especially in something designed for the living room as a hotter GPU means a louder one. When vertical, the RVZ02 is essentially as effective as having the card on an open bench, and a massive 20°C cooler.
