About this deal

Hi for sale is a pair of Olympus 8x40 DPS I in very good condition no fungus dust or marks on optics perfect alignment . Alternatively, you could get the aculon and purchase a neoprene pouch which would add a degree of waterproofing and protection - just an idea. Coated lenses and prisms coupled with aspherical lenses ensure a high level of optical performance with minimal distortion and fringing, while a focussing distance of as near as 4 m allows you to follow birds and other wildlife without moving as they approach.

I think we naturally ignore out of focus images at the edges of our view anyway, and for visual observation it makes very little difference; astrophotograhy is a totally different ball game and out-of-focus pictures are very obvious. But what you will find on many low cost binoculars is that they only have “Multi-Coated” optics meaning that only SOME of their glass surfaces have received Multiple layers of anti-reflection coatings. Their traditional Porro prisms and anti-reflection coated optics maximise the light entering the 40mm objectives to produce bright and clear images with a rich depth of field. I suspect at lot of folk, given hands-on experience, might go for lighter and more compact 7x35 model. CA colour distortion/flare appears to be well controlled when viewing the Moon (and bright street lights) and is not noticeable under normal conditions.

i would describe them as a medium size binocular, not too small and not too big which in my view is the perfect size ! Cheapish bins do not give clear views, and suffer from colour fringing, which is not desirable when trying to I d a bird.

I was looking at that size on their info sheet and noticed that it had over 9° FOV , but maybe the reduction in aperture would reduce the brightness? From what I’ve learnt so far, the Olympus has a larger OLD (objective lens diameter), giving greater Exit Pupil and the field of view is 10m wider; so is possible the Olympus will produce a better picture? We used this binos in Kalpa to watch snow peaked mountain as well as used in Bharatpur bird sanctuary the quality is amazing. The Olympus 8x40 DPS is a pair of high-quality leisure binoculars created to be user-friendly and portable, and to deliver accurate and detailed vision in indoor and outdoor settings. You can change your choices at any time by visiting Cookie preferences, as described in the Cookie notice. Long eye relief and twist-up eyepieces offer comfortable viewing including for those who wear glasses. Unfortunately the true sharp definition FOV did not extend very far from the centre of the lens and started to deteriorate just past 55%, and turned totally out of focus at 70%; not a good result. Then once you have this short list, I would narrow them down to the final choice by looking at the featue=res that are most important to you.
