About this deal

While I did not have a proper decibel meter with which to measure the noise output from the Hyper 212 Halo Black, I made do with a noise measurement app on my smartphone instead to get a rough estimate, and recorded an average noise level of around 48dB when the fan was running at increased speed, while the test bench was running Cinebench R23's multi core test. The Hyper 212 lineup has roots going back to the original cooler’s release in 2009 (which did an awesome job cooling my Q6600 back in the day).

The fan blade design inspired by helicopters, it pack more force into the space in front of the fan. In the last five years I have reviewed a number of coolers here at PC Perspective, and feedback from readers almost always includes mention of, and requests for comparison to, that Hyper 212 EVO. DIY PC enthusiasts who've used the Hyper 212 in its previous iterations would have immediately noticed the quality improvements when it comes to the Halo Black's mounting hardware - the amount of kit that comes included has been significantly streamlined, paving the way for a more fuss-free installation experience. So a lot of factors to consider, especially when you’re planning on building your system within a certain budget.Even at maximum levels, the fan was almost silent, and could not be heard at all with the case side panel closed. To improve visual appeal, the latest update features a black aluminium top cover, jet black heat pipes, an ARGB 120 mm fan, and improved mounting hardware, along with a plethora of minor changes to further improve performance and appeal.

The Cooler Master Hyper 212 Black Edition CPU cooler with the Silencio fan comes packaged in a cardboard box featuring Cooler Master’s traditional color scheme of black and purple. This let us use ASUS’s AURA Sync software to match the LED colors and effects of the fan to that of the motherboard. With the Cinebench R23 multi core test, the Ryzen 5 5600 achieved an average CPU CCD1 reading of 62. You can change your choices at any time by visiting Cookie preferences, as described in the Cookie notice. on paper it's still a budget- friendly option but it will be interesting to see if its performance still lives up to the Hyper 212 name. This is used to provide power to the main heatsink fan, as well as an additional fan if you so chose to use one provided your motherboard has no additional fan connectors.
