About this deal

I breathe in sharply. I know it’s not a good idea, but I can’t pass up this chance for a moment alone with her. Sure, okay. I hate that Tally has become a Candlehawk kid, but maybe I should have seen it coming. She was always obsessed with how things looked and who was doing the looking. Dating her felt like viewing my life through a photo filter. Sometimes I was swept up by how great we looked together; other times, I felt like the photo underneath wasn’t good enough on its own. And of course the romance was fantastic! This really went there on the enemies portion of enemies to lovers. I liked that the MCs really needed to work through their toxic past before getting to their HFN. Outside, in the senior parking lot, I hike myself up on the retaining wall where people like to smoke weed. Tally will no doubt find me here, since the Candlehawk players insist on parking in our senior lot anytime they play us at home. In a different world, Tally would have parked in this lot every day, right next to my old green Jetta. Now she parks on the other side of town in a sea of Range Rovers and Escalades. Scottie just broke up with her girlfriend Tally and lost spectacularly to her in the basketball game. And she is now extremely embarrassed. And there is only one solution to show her ex that she is okay. No not only okay but better and moved on.

Just a game? My voice is shaking. "If it’s just a game, why did you have to transfer to Candlehawk for it?" A love letter to late bloomers, Late to the Party combines teenage angst with first loves and second chances and emphasises that true friends will always be there for you even as you discover new parts of yourself." — The Nerd Daily Because before you can worry about who’s in your passenger seat, you have to learn to drive yourself.” Neither of the girls showed any interest in men, yet they never once said the word "Lesbian". I used to never quite realise this in books but I can definitely see how harmful it is, so hopefully, this author chooses to amend that in her future books. PDF / EPUB File Name: She_Drives_Me_Crazy_-_Kelly_Quindlen.pdf, She_Drives_Me_Crazy_-_Kelly_Quindlen.epubOn top of that this had absolutely amazing female friendships. Both of the main heroines have the strongest friend groups. I love seeing characters who have friends in there life that support each other this fiercely. Everyone needs a Honey-Belle. (Also can I get an entire book for Honey-Belle? She’s amazing) This book was such a delight to read. Like it was so wholesome and refreshing, definitely due for a reread sometime soon. This was such a lovely YA sapphic romance. Unfortunately, I've struggled to like YA romances like Not My Problem and Starry Eyes because the romance is really underdeveloped and there's a lot of side-filler that I cannot bring myself to care about. But, this book does not do that. The romance was sweet, we had tension, we had tropey moments and ugh it was just splendid. I also love these high school romances sm, like yes, give us what we wish we had tbh. A big part of the book is about Scottie moving on from her ex and healing from their toxic relationship. This book honestly portrays the messy process of getting over a breakup and describes how badly a abusive relationship can damage one's self esteem. And because it was honest and realistic, it was also sometimes very frustrating to watch Scottie pine over her awful ex. I didn't expect so much of this book to be focused on Scottie's obsession with her ex. It was understandable but really annoying when Irene and Scottie would be having a moment together and suddenly Scottie would start thinking about her ex girlfriend. I did like Scottie's character development and how she grows up and makes healthier decisions and gives herself time to grieve over her past relationship before jumping into a new one. The crowd starts booing me. The Candlehawk players throw me scathing, superior looks, except for Tally, who grimaces like I’ve become unhinged. My coach freezes where she stands, clearly unsure of what a technical foul is. Tally takes her place near me at the top of the key, keeping enough distance to stay open for a pass from her new point guard. But then, almost like she can’t help it, she glances at me.

I’ve placed this gem of a novel on my ‘greatest-books-of-all-time’ list and I think you’ll really enjoy this delightful young adult rom-com just as much as I did! Excerpt from She Drives Me Crazy by Kelly Quindlen The point guard does that hand-twirl signal when she wants the forwards to cross-swap, she says in a hushed tone. They’re gonna run out to the wings to pull the attention away from the top of the key— I hurl the basketball like we’re playing dodgeball and I’m determined to take out their entire team. I feel one boiling second of satisfaction, but then— After losing spectacularly to her ex-girlfriend in their first game since their break up, Scottie Zajac gets into a fender bender with the worst possible person: her nemesis, the incredibly beautiful and incredibly mean Irene Abraham. Things only get worse when their nosey, do-gooder moms get involved and the girls are forced to carpool together until Irene’s car gets out of the shop. This was just so heartwarming idkkk!!!!!!! The writing was also concise and addictive, so much so that I was able to read this all in one night.A deeply heartfelt and emotionally honest celebration of late bloomers, queer solidarity, and friendships both old and new. This book has a permanent place in my heart." —Dahlia Adler, author of Under the Lights. Tally sighs. Dead leaves skitter across the concrete. Okay, look, I don’t want to fight. I should have known it was a bad idea to talk when you’re all riled up after a game— It’s the first basketball game of their season and Scottie Zajac is embarrassed beyond words when she loses to her ex-girlfriend’s team on her own home turf. When Scottie thought her day couldn’t get any worse, she gets into a fender bender with her worst enemy: Irene Abraham, the head cheerleader and the most popular girl at their high school. Jesus, Scottie, she mutters, like I’m the most impossible person in the world. "You’re being so over the top. It’s just a game."

My adrenaline carries me out of my car before I can think about it. I slam my door and meet her in the middle. “What the hell?” After an embarrassing loss to her ex-girlfriend in their first basketball game of the season, seventeen-year-old Scottie Zajac gets into a fender bender with the worst possible person: her nemesis, Irene Abraham, head cheerleader for the Fighting Reindeer. Perfectly captures the joys and hopes and thrills of being a real, authentic teenager . . . A fantastic read for queer teens today.”—Kacen Callender, Stonewall and Lambda Award–winning author This Is Kind of an Epic Love Story She Drives Me Crazy is cheesy and campy and angsty in the absolute best way possible. With brilliant character development and dynamics, an exploration of heartbreak, the effects of a toxic relationship and the importance of looking past preconceptions, Kelly Quindlen has created a story that will resonate with lots of teens, especially queer ones. The characters of She Drives Me Crazy are messy and flawed which just makes them all the more real. With nods to classic rom coms and expert trope usage, this book is perfect for anyone looking for some good teen fun, a lovely sapphic romance and expertly written characters.

Zajac!” Coach screams, waving wildly at me. She’s only using my last name because she can’t remember my first name. “No more shots! Give the ball to someone else!”

My first queer/lesbian book I’ve read and i can’t wait to read more. Our community Scottie's love interest, Irene was the star of the book for me. She was charismatic and blew life into every single scene she was in. Also I just loved her banter with Scottie. They had amazing chemistry and were afreakingadorable together. The way they slowly went from hating each other to slowly and begrudgingly understanding and supporting each other was wonderful to read. They had the same bad experience of falling in love with with someone who treated them terribly which sorta helped them relate to each other better. And I loved their big gay journey from enemies to fake lovers to lovers. I think there’s a glimmer of recognition in Tally’s eyes, but she looks away before I can be sure. Um—anyway. Some game, right? I’ve never seen you that pissed off before. I think you actually scared some of my teammates. She laughs, but it’s hollow. Her dark eyes sizzle like I’ve just said something offensive. “Do you know nothing?” she snaps. “You should never apologize after a car accident. It’s an admission of fault.”Oh come on, Irene, put some feeling into it!” she chides. “Your girlfriend destroyed that game! Doesn’t she deserve a kiss?” I try not to look at Tally now as she bounds down the court in her new gold jersey, but it’s like pretending the sun doesn’t exist. She pulls her lips into her mouth like she’s trying to keep a neutral expression, but I can tell she’s thrilled with how this game is going. It validates every reason she had for transferring to a school with a better basketball program, a school where she could finally be noticed. Irene is such a cool person. She's smart funny brave and headstrong. She won't take shit from anyone. Though she may appear all strong and evil, she is actually a cinnamon roll.🥺 She Drives Me Crazy by Kelly Quindlen is a highly entertaining young adult rom-com that highlights the importance of being true to yourself and learning how to let go and move on from painful experiences no matter how daunting it may seem at first.
