About this deal

Honestly, I read all sorts of different type of ‘low brow’ books and I don’t really have high standards, but this one takes the cake.

From this moment, it is clear that Kate’s life is going to take a turn for the worse. Ryan is instantly unlikable; he is slimy, manipulative and viscous. It was obvious how this character fit into Kate’s past, even down to his secret phone-calls to Daz. In this manner, I wish the writer had created more suspense by adding ambiguity to Ryan or even Daz’s character. It was pretty clear, pretty soon, what Ryan’s intentions were and, to be honest, I just wanted the narrative to reach that stage sooner rather than later. An intermingling of the past and present was not confusing the way the author handled it. The characters were well written and easily distinguishable from each other. Their individual personalities and quirks made for an entertaining book. The foreshadowing kept me on pins and needles wondering what was going to happen next. One character got me so angry with their stubbornness and the rose colored glasses they were looking out of. While another kept me tense never knowing what heinous act they were going to commit next. Lies were an important part of the plot. I really enjoyed the range of ages of the main characters and how they viewed the world as they interacted with one another. The feelings of menace and unease was often brushed aside or scoffed at. But as this book barreled towards its climax I couldn't help but wonder why were the police not called sooner and why they were going methodically by the book while lives were in danger. The my emotions were stretched so taunt believing any moment something horrific would happen.

Liza is a romantic suspense writer. Due to fertility issues and the fact that her husband's partner is missing, she has hit a bit of a slump in her success as a writer. The characters were perfectly written, each one believable and provoked the right emotions for this type of book.

Liza’s life isn't any joy either. She's attempting a new fertility treatment trial. She's neglected to tell the doctor about her depression as that would have barred her from the trial. Oh, and she's no longer seeing her psychiatrist. And her husband is no longer really behind her attempts to get pregnant.

Beth finds herself clashing with Tom and worrying that a recent tragedy will affect his judgement as a police officer. But there may be an even bigger question: Is it a burglary gone wrong that’s turned the village upside down—or could the violence be connected to something far more deadly? If you love Gripping Thrillers that have juicy twists, a dash of suspense and plenty of Tangled lies then I definitely recommend you grab a copy of The Lies She Told! The book is about writer Liza Jones who desperately needs to finish up her next thriller. The thriller she is writing is about a fictional character named Beth, a new mother who suspects her husband is cheating on her. At the same time, the main character Liza Jones is also facing difficulties when her husband's professional partner disappears.

Very well-written psychological thriller. Characters are finely drawn. None of them are perfect .. they are all damaged in one way or another. Lots of twists and turns and surprises until the explosive ending. Told from two viewpoints in alternating chapters, one is the story of the life of an author, Liza Jones (these chapters have LIZA as the chapter headings), and Beth, a character in the thriller novel she is writing (these chapters are number sequentially). Not difficult to follow unless you overlook these chapter headings, and then there are places where may blur. The character development in this book was off the charts, I was gripped and hooked by each of the characters and to be honest, I couldn’t actually guess where this was going and who was going to be the accused? Leave it to Denise to take me on an emotional roller coaster as I adventure through the Carly Moore series! The Lies She Told was absolutely AMAZING!!! Coming off the low of Buried in Secrets, I was worried about how the rest of the series would play out, but never underestimate Denise! She has once again turned things around for me and left me wanting and NEEDING to know what is going to happen next!! Maybe because I'm not a fan of the romance kind of suspense novels, I struggled with the story within the story. I mean, I'll give Holahan credit, it read like a romance style novel. Beth is a new mother who has caught her husband having an affair. She's unwilling to confront him about it but of course, feels totally betrayed. Reading about that was akin to a visit to the dentist for me.
