About this deal

Code compilation is a strong point for the Core i7-12700H, enhanced through the upgrade to DDR5 memory, which we expect to be used across the majority of 2022's gaming laptops (Alder Lake also supports DDR4). Shadow of the Tomb Raider is very CPU intensive but at 1080p with a 6900 XT we're able to turn the game from CPU limited to GPU limited by the time DDR4-2933 CL16 is reached. We do see small improvements as memory performance is increased, but from 2933 to 6200 we're looking at a 7% increase in 1% lows, that's it. Rich media and intelligent integrated graphics capabilities enable amplified visual complexity, enhanced 3D performance and faster image processing. Intel’s new performance hybrid architecture, which combines the intelligence of two unique core families, into a single CPU lets you take on more with more performance. From a grand total of 12 Cores altogether, your Intel i7 12th Gen processors 8 Performance-cores or P-cores have been engineered for superior performance across single and lightly-threaded workloads, taking activities such as gaming and productivity-driven workflows to new heights. Efficient-cores are multi-threaded performance.

The Core i7-12700K features eight P-cores and four E-cores. HyperThreading is enabled on the P-cores, which works out to the 12-core/20-thread count. Built on the Intel 7 (10 nm Enhanced SuperFin) silicon fabrication node, which offers comparable transistor-density and power characteristics to 7 nm-class nodes by TSMC, the "Alder Lake-S" silicon features up to 8 "Golden Cove" P-cores and up to 8 "Gracemont" E-cores, of which all 8 P-cores and 4 out of 8 E-cores are enabled on the i7-12700K. For productivity-centric users, the answer however is much more clearer. The 13700K has considerably more clout with about 33% gains in multicore benchmarks. That translates to faster performance for users attempting to run workloads that utilize multithreaded, multicore-based workloads with considerable throughput required (such as rendering tools, programming suites, and development tools).a b Anand Lal Shimpi (September 14, 2011). That being said there is a minimum amount of cores that will be needed to play the most demanding games on the highest settings. As a general rule, the following guidelines are recommended when purchasing a new processor: Cores – The minimum requirement for gaming enthusiasts who want to run the latest games on the highest settings. On the inside, the laptop has a 12th Gen Intel Core i7-12700H mobile processor, which is built on the Alder Lake-H architecture. The processor has a base speed of 2.3GHz and can peak at 4.7GHz, which should be sufficient for handling your demanding tasks. All models except the i7-4770K additionally supported Intel TSX-NI at launch, but support was disabled in later stepping and microcode updates, due to the incorrect implementation, that could not be solved by microcode without hurting performance or fixing it fully. However at 75W, the 12700H is able to pull ahead of the field. While just 3% faster than the 5800H at 45W, it's now a very solid 22% faster, owing to Alder Lake's great scalability up to higher power levels. So if you do get a laptop with the cooling power to handle higher long term power, the 12700H is the way to go.
