About this deal

A deeper question is: Does it make logical sense to form a special class of people based purely on sexual orientation and then equate it to a race or ethnic group's push for civil rights? Mark Sanderlin delivers a fantastic performance in this wonderful story! I can't wait to find out what else he has narrated. It can be a struggle for those who desire to leave the gay lifestyle (again, see " The Human Side of Homosexuality: From One Who Has Struggled"). And like other human temptations, it may be a battle they fight all their lives. But God knows how to deliver the godly out of temptations (2 Peter 2:9).

Brown provides an example of the efforts of one homosexual advocacy organization over the past two decades: "This is the day of the 'queering of elementary educations' —to quote the title of a highly-praised book —and much of this is due to the influence of GLSEN, the Gay, Lesbian, and Straight Educational Network (pp. 87-88). It appears that those pushing the gay agenda won't give up until the definition of marriage is changed in law and common language and their influence is felt in every aspect of society, as Brown documents: Like a lot of readers, I just adore Max, who is such an engaging character. How did you develop Max’s role in the story and in Jay’s life?If you could design your dream panel for Jay’s Gay Agenda, what would the topic be? What other authors would you invite to be on it? It's the view of many that the impact the gay agenda is having on society is a bellwether indicator of just how far society has morally degenerated and where it's ultimately headed. Can you tease anything about your next YA, a queer retelling of Splash? Because I’m dying from anticipation! Why did you want to write about merfolk? So through Jay, I hope readers realize it’s okay to make mistakes, that it’s natural to prioritize ourselves when we’re experiencing relationships for the first time, but that when you screw up and you hurt someone, you have to own up to it. You have to say how you hurt someone, show them you understand where your actions caused them pain so that you won’t repeat those mistakes. Sometimes, the act of messing up and owning up to it then doing better can bring you closer than you ever were before, but that can only happen with accountability.

While Lot and his family were in some ways negatively influenced by the evils of the society around them, he is called "righteous Lot" (2 Peter 2:7). He felt tormented, oppressed and distressed by the immoral and degrading ways of those around him (2 Peter 2:7-8). The central plot of Jay’s Gay Agenda is focused on how difficult and isolating it can be to be LGBTQ+ in a rural town and Jay’s desire to find LGBTQ+ community. Even though I grew up in Massachusetts, I went to a small rural high school, so I found this struggle really relatable! I was one of the only out LGBTQ+ teens at my high school. Why did you want to explore this in Jay’s journey? Life is fine if a little boring for Jay. He’s headed into his senior year and is the ONLY out gay kid in his entire small school. He came out in 9th grade and figured that, statistically, SOMEONE else had to eventually come out. Maybe he’d make some gay friends. Maybe he’d meet a cute boy. Or maybe he’d remain the only out kid through all of high school. When his parents announce they’re moving to Seattle, he’s psyched to leave rural Washington behind, even though it means leaving his best friend, Lu. But she has Chip, her boyfriend, and besides, it’s time for Jay to go from third wheel to the main character in his own story. Another example is his pushing for the 2011 ending of restrictions on homosexuals serving openly in the U.S. military, a practice which had been in existence since the time of George Washington.

Because mistakes are so so so so human. I think we see perfection everywhere, especially on social media, where everyone’s life and friendships and relationships look perfect. What we don’t see is all the mistakes made along the way, we don’t see the arguments people are having, we don’t see the wrong choices that hurt others, so it can feel like nobody ever screws up. But screwing up and learning how to be vocal about your wants and needs without getting those at the expense of others is such a part of life, or learning how to be a communicative young adult who realizes the world can’t go exactly as you want it because you have to keep other people’s unique wants and needs and personalities into account too. One reason is that the gay agenda has successfully changed the public focus away from the fundamental biological difference between same-sex couples and heterosexual partners. They may be able to fool some people some of the time, but they cannot fool God. There is simply no way to magically erase the inherent biological differences.
